So I met this girl who just started doing triathlons a month before… I watched her while experiencing the Newtown tri community. I said to myself “I have to try a tri!” (I married that girl…) 5 years later of races, I’m training for my first full ironman.

Favorite: chocolate with caffeine

Ironman Coeur d’Alene 70.3 …. so far

What is the most challenging moment you’ve had during a race?

Calming my nervous excitement and channeling my adrenaline before the water.

For hills: Babler Park, flats/wind: Newtown area, open water swim: Newtown, pool: St. Peter’s rec plex, Bricks: Creve Coeur lake

What is your favorite thing about triathlon?

The community of triathlon overall is very supportive of each other! That’s what captured me and fuels me! There’s such a positive vibe flowing whenever a conversation consists of tri. Anything is possible! Total strangers will trade most intimate trade secrets/stories ha.

What is the one piece of tri-geek gear you can’t live without?

My bike, can’t complete a tri without a bike!

Tip for new (or veteran) triathletes?

Keep asking questions, keep learning, keep adjusting… Triathlon tech/training is constantly evolving. Everyone’s journey is different, only use comparisons as motivation not competition!
