The mentoring program is specifically designed to help new triathletes learn about the sport and prepare for their first race. The program relies on the sharing of knowledge between those with more experience and those who are still learning. Because we are always learning, finding new races, and forever challenging ourselves, that means that at any time you are both more and less experienced that others in the group. So we invite and encourage EVERYONE to attend the events to share and learn from each other.

Mentoring in 2016 has already started with a series of clinics and now the weekly Thursday night rides. Please see below for detailed schedule. Stay tuned for updates or cancellations. All Thursday night rides/clinics will start at 6pm to give people time to get off work and allow traffic time.

Most importantly…have FUN, no…have a BLAST!

Group A: defined as the “faster, longer” group and allows opportunities for newbies to join when gaining confidence from riding. Guidance will be provided for all levels. Rides are typically out and back, or other routes decided by Group Training committee and leader.

Group B: defined as “mentoring, newbie” group starting off on the roads for a slower, shorter course. Routes will start in the Forest Park Visitor’s Center parking lot. Mentoring sessions will occur before or after the ride depending on the nature of the session or the amount of daylight that is available. Group B will be focused on bike etiquette/safety/traffic laws with a Mentoring coordinator leading most of the sessions.

Interactive Meeting!!!

WHERE: To be announced by June 30 (this is an outdoor meeting; likely to occur at Parkway North Track)

Starting at 6:30 pm, TriSmart Head Coach, Jennifer Meyer will talk briefly about the benefits of HR training and will help all attendees to set their unique HR training zones for running.

This meeting is informative, interactive and possibly a little hard because it includes a hard running workout. Note: If you can’t arrive at 6:30, please try to arrive no later than 7:15 pm.

  • Bring your HR monitor and KNOW HOW TO USE IT!
  • Rest easy or have a light workout the day before because you will run a hard 30 minute time trial.
  • Have a light snack right before (no full tummies) and hydrate.

After your time trial, we will have beverages and a light snack available for all.

This meeting, as well as all others, is open to current and prospective members.
