Saturday Races:

• Pro-Am Sprint Relay: 0.5 mi OWS (pro) / 12.4 mi bike (amateur) / 3.1 mi run (amateur)
• Sprint Triathlon: 0.5 mi OWS / 12.4 mi bike / 3.1 mi run*
• Sprint Duathlon: 1 mi run / 15 mi bike / 3.1 mi run*
• 5k run / walk
• Kids tri: 100m OWS / 3 mi bike / 0.5 mi run or 200m OWS / 6 mi bike / 1 mi run

“CHALLENGE MIAMI is the second US-based middle-distance race in North-America. This, together with the exciting side events taking place the day after the main event, will target all triathletes and spectators.

The Homestead-Miami Speedway circuit will be the centre of activity for both the middle-distance race as well as the unique side events, which include:

• • Sprint Distance Triathlon
  • Middle Distance Duathlon
  • Sprint Distance Triathlon

• 5km run/walk
• Pro-am sprint race
• Relay triathlon
• Junior Challenge -Kids Race
• Miami Distance Pro Race Under The Lights

The venue holds two inside lakes, in which the athletes will swim. This will provide an unmatched spectator experience, as T1, the first part of the bike course, T2 and the run will also take place within the Speedway.

As said, the flat and fast bike leg will partly take place around the speedway circuit before leading triathletes outside the track and onto the surrounding closed roads.

After transitioning in the race venue, athletes tackle the run course which has been designed with spectators in mind. The atmosphere is sure to lift the athletes as they complete the course before reaching the red carpet and the incredible finish arch.

Following the racing, we will throw a sensational CHALLENGE​FAMILY style festival complete with pasta party and an extraordinary awards ceremony.”

Sunday Morning Swim - Whispering Hills Clubhouse

We have reserved the Whispering Hills Clubhouse pool every Sunday morning from 8am to 10am. This is a 25 yard pool. Enter the clubhouse through the side door (closest to the main parking lot) that leads to the fitness area.

Sign Up Required

• We are limited to 6 participants an hour, and you must register via SignUpGenius (see below).
• Masks must be worn when not swimming.
• Please only sign up for one slot per week. If the sessions become in high demand, we may further ask you to limit your number of signups to ensure everyone has a chance to participate.
• We will be emailing a list of participants to Whispering Hills each week.
• To participate you must sign up by the Friday before your session.

The majority of Sundays will be open swim so bring your own swim plan. Special sessions or clinics are typically held during the winter and early spring months and will be announced ahead of time. The pool may remain closed during  inclement weather (snow and ice). We will do our best to post a closure annoucement on the club’s private Facebook group as well as here on the website.

2020-2021 Rec Plex Indoor Triathlons

Modifications for 2020/2021:

• Pre-registration only
• Staggered start times 30 minutes apart (see below), 6 racers per wave
• Bikes are spilt between two rooms
• 6 foot minimum distance between occupied treadmills
• Option to do the run outdoors (marked course)

LONG COURSE:

500-yd. swim in the pool

15-mile bike ride on stationary bikes*

5-mile run on a treadmill (optional outside run for 2020/2021)

SHORT COURSE:

300-yd. swim in the pool

10-mile bike ride on stationary bikes*

3-mile run on a treadmill (optional outside run for 2020/2021)

* The RecPlex upgraded its stationary bicycles to base distance on power rather than RPM. You’ll have to set the bike for realistic resistance now!

Start Times:

• 12:00, 12:30, 1:00 for Mega Deal only
• 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00 for Public Registration

Point System:

Points will be based on your performance against yourself. You can earn points by week-to-week improvement in all three legs as well as overall time. See the Rec-Plex website for details.

Points = Prizes!

Prizes will be awarded in five age groups:  25 – under, 26-39, 40-54, 55-69, and 70+.

$20 in advance • Preregistration only for 2020/2021 • Package deal (Mega Deal) available for entire season + Spring Rookies & Rock Stars Triathlon on 04/25/2021.
