Date(s) - 04/15/2020
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
BIG SHARK BICYCLE BIG BEND
What does “Suspended” mean? With social distancing continuing, and much of the season on hold, we will not be holding this meeting at this time – either in person or virtually. It may return at later date, in some form, as we all gain more clarity on the rest of the year.
Early season local racing is upon us, and so is the beginning of the New Town Open Water Swim series and New Town rides! So, let’s get ready:
- New Town veterans know local triathlete Ann Halenkamp, “the Wetsuit Whisperer”, who assists us with fitting of the demo suits as well as getting us into the things at the Saturday OWS’s! This evening Ann will give tips on dealing with the wetsuit this evening before we get together for that first swim. Both rookies and veterans will benefit from Ann’s experience and it will make your OWS morning go a bit smoother!
- Stephané Rebeck is the Captain of BYLG Sport, the open-water rescue services division of Backyard Lifeguards. Stephé will address common signs of swim anxiety, and what she and her crew do to reassure both novices and experienced racers. Learn ways to make the best choices for the conditions, what characteristics lifeguards recognize as distress, and how you can get or expect them to respond.
- Mike Weiss, our host for the evening and Mr Big Shark Cycling himself, will talk to us about early season cycling as well as the New Town Triathlon in July.
