When/where was your first triathlon?
My first attempt was the Ste. Genevieve Mini Tri. I had to DNF because it is a hilly course and i had no idea how to use my gears on my bike. Two months later I did New Town Triathlon and it defintely came out better.
What is your favorite and least favorite gel flavor?
Ugh, gel! I use clif shot bloks now, but also enjoyed sport beans. Both have an awesome cherry flavor with caffeine!
What is your favorite race?
Like our president, I LOVE the big shoulders swim in Chicago. Locally, I love New Town.
What is the most challenging moment you’ve had during a race?
Both 70.3 I have done have been without clipping in on the bike. The first one was because I was on a hybrid, and the second one was because I had wrecked the week before and was to nervous to not be able to immediately take my feet off the pedals.
What is your favorite place in or around St. Louis to train?
I live in Fox park and love running the neighborhood streets in Compton Heights. A lot of them are one way, but really wide so you can run in the street vs the sidewalks
What is the worst food you’ve ever tried in training or racing and why?
I used to eat cheese pizza in transition, while tasty, it isn’t the best choice 😉
What is your favorite thing about triathlon?
I love being able to keep pushing limits and see what I am capable of accomplishing.
What is the one piece of tri-geek gear that you can’t live without?
I adore my Garmin fenix3. I have no idea how I ever lived without it.
