Working on your Running technique is a great way to get faster and not get injured. Jennifer Meyer (of TriSmart) is a 2nd level certified instructor of the Pose method of running. TriSmart offers specially priced small group running technique clinics for club members. Jennifer will host clinics for groups of 4 tri club members at her home studio. These clinics will last for 2.5 hours. Each clinic will begin with a videotaping session to evaluate your current state of running and will be followed by instruction, drills, and practice, ending with another taping session to see how much improvement you have made and provide instruction to continue with your running education after the class. These clinics cost $75/person. Please let Jennifer know if you are interested and once we have 4 folks we can schedule the clinic.
Jennifer is scheduled to teach a Running Technique Class (the Pose Method) at the Edwards Jones YMCA. A few club members have attended these in the past. The next series of classes starts Tuesday 1/3 at 6:30pm. The session runs 7 weeks in a row and the cost is $195 for Y members (a bit more for non-members). This is a small class with minimum of 4 and maximum of 5 students - a great opportunity. There is a free info session on Tues 1/3 at 5:45pm before the first class. Please call the Edward Jones Y to register.
Swim Technique Sessions – Jennifer is scheduling clinics with 3 students to work on swimming technique for 2 hours. Several of these clinics have happened and been well received. These clinics will take place at the Whispering Hills Pool (where the club party is going to be held – 12545 Markaire St. Louis 63146). Jennifer has been swimming competitively for many years and during her past several years in triathlon she has improved her swimming every year – even at the age of 47! Jennifer has studied swimming technique with many different coaches and is using all of this experience, along with her most recent training in the Pose Method of Swimming to help athletes become more efficient swimmers. The fee for these swim sessions is $65 per person and includes the pool fee. During the session, the participants will be filmed (both underwater and above water). Many different drills will be practiced and the film will be reviewed to see what is going on and what needs to be changed. The participants will go away from this session knowing what they need to work on in their swimming. Please contact Jennifer at Jennifer@TriSmartUSA.com if interested. Once we have a group we will schedule a day and time that works. Ask other club members about these clinics as many have participated and feedback has been good. Note: one session is good, but a few will really make a difference!. Sure, you will learn important elements to practice in the 1st session, but please plan to participate in additional sessions beyond the first one to really reap the most benefits.
